We enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast meal this weekend. The main roast was delicious together with the wine and furthermore the staff were welcoming and attentive.

We visited for Christmas Eve dinner with our parents and our daughter. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. My only gripe was that when we entered we were immediately met with a bar area full of loud locals enjoying a drink and there was nobody to seat us at our table so we had to wait at the bar to be served and ask the bar staff to seat us, which took some time. The locals at the bar weren’t overly friendly or in the Christmas spirit so it was a bit awkward.

We had booked a table somewhere else but their was not open. On tbe off chance we rang the Crown and they was able to squeeze us in for the lunch sitting. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the food was very nice would recommend.

The Crown at Hartest - one of those lovely Suffolk villages - is the perfect pub. At the end of an enjoyable sunlit walk, we received a warm welcome and ate a great lunch.

Wednesday happens to be 'pie-and-a-pint' day, so that's what I had - a superb chicken and ham pie, plus a great pint of Brewshed bitter. Mrs B had fish and chips which - as a connoisseur - she proclaimed very good indeed.

In fact, it was all so enjoyable that I forgot to take photos of the whole meal - but this one of the pie on soft buttery mash probably tells you all you need to know.

A big call-out for the service, which was attentive, friendly and made every customer feel special.

Whether you do the circular walk first or not, the Crown is definitely the kind of village pub to go to, grab a drink, and enjoy lovely, unpretentious well-cooked food.

When served the food was good but although told we had to wait 20 minutes for the pie it was more like 3/4 hr. We didnt have time to wait for dessert. Friendly service but too slow.

Lovely pub, pizza oven in the garden in summer, fireworks in November. Very nice food, and brew their own delicious beer (sister site in Ingham).

Haven't been for a couple of years, however the service, food and ambience could not be faulted. Certainly will not be leaving it so long to return. Thank you to all the staff.

Went earlier in the summer and the food was excellent and service top notch, tried again recently and whilst the food was still very good little things let it down, certain items being slightly over done, fat not rendered down enough on the pork and asking twice for a bottle of water yet it never materialised etc.

They were very busy and probably a little rushed so would be happy to try it again a third time.

Overall a good solid dinning experience, just let down by little things

Had Sunday lunch with some freinds to celebrate a birthday. It was very difficult to fault; superb food, well presented , substantial portions and piping hot, great staff, knowledgeable and friendly and could not have been more helpful. Great location, and atmosphere. This will be our pub lunch place of choice from now on.

Staying locally and read the reviews but they didn’t do it justice. Atmosphere and welcome was first class, food was out of this world. The chicken and bacon pie was amazing as was the battered haddock. The service was probably the best I’ve had to date, all the staff were young but so focused on customer service that they are all a credit to the management. Would highly recommend but make sure you book as they get very busy.

Lovely place in the middle of nowhere. Surroundings are amazing.
Good range on the menu and very nice food.
Also was a pizza food van outside if needed.
Outside bar
Not too badly priced for the area.
Would visit again when in the area

Nice pub and location. More upmarket food, good presentation but for the money it lacked taste and quality. Took orders at the bar but then the card machine asked if I wanted to tip, cheeky. Much better options elsewhere.

3 of us had lunch here and the food was very good and the portions almost unmanageable! Altogether a great place to go. And Lara was a really great server and an asset to the place

Can't speak more positively about this place. Great family atmosphere, great garden, bar both inside and out, pizza outside, great food and a lovely setting. It just seems to have everything.
On a side note, and this is not a dig, more a concern. A few times being there for 4 hours or so, the lovely dog is tied next to the fireplace on a small bed. Doesn't have the freedom to go outside and seems to be ignored a lot for hours on end. Just a few weeks ago i was there for at least 5 hours enjoying drinks outside and then later a meal inside, and he was only taken outside for all of about 3 minutes. If I'm wrong I apologise but that's what I saw.

Simply cannot get a nicer dining experience than The Crown. We had a large table of family for Sunday lunch and we were well catered for. Sat us promptly on arrival and quickly took a drinks order. ‘While we wait’ bread arrived freshly baked, along with a delicious Garlic Butter and enjoyed by everyone. On to the Mains which we enjoyed with something of everything off the menu! I had incredible slices of Roast Beef, other members of our party had a melt in-the-mouth Roast pork, delicious Roast Chicken and the vegetarian option of the stuffed mushroom. All served with a huge Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and then bowls full of delicious vegetables all along the table - with at least 3 varieties on each bowl! Extra gravy duly brought to us, along with whatever sauces we requested. Absolutely delicious and cannot be faulted at all, high class food, not some cheap microwave food. And dessert was delicious, I had a particularly tasty white chocolate and raspberry baked cheesecake which came with a very tasty raspberry sorbet, my family members chose from the chocolate tart or ice cream and some others chose a freshly prepared coffee instead. The staff were very friendly, engaged with us all, from the young children to our Aunt who’d turned 90! The waitresses were helpful without being over-the-top and we felt very looked after. Cannot recommend this fantastic High end Country pub highly enough!
