The team at The Crown are passionate about great quality, locally sourced (where possible) food cooked from scratch, creating mouth-watering menus from seasonal produce. All dietary requirements can be catered for, just mention this when you book.
Homemade is important to The Crown and all meals are prepared from scratch, even their ice cream and bread is homemade. And if it can’t be made in the kitchen, they will source it to the highest quality and as local as possible
As well as their main menu, they offer a regular changing lunch and dinner specials, to showcase the best seasonal produce and keep the menu choice varied for their regular customers.
Their lunchtime set menu; 2 courses for £14 & 3 courses for £17.50.
If you fancy going out for Sunday Lunch, you will always get a choice of roast beef or pork, sourced from their Suffolk butcher, served with seasonal vegetables and all the trimmings.
The Crown is a family-owned pub. Their younger customers are important to them and appreciate that they want more than just chicken nuggets, so a specially created Children’s Menu, aimed at those under 10, is available. Meals are freshly prepared & served with seasonal vegetables or carrot and pepper sticks. You can also order a smaller portion of a Sunday roast, and where possible, they will prepare smaller portions from the main menus.
You can see an example of the kids menu here.
If you don’t fancy cooking on Tuesday night, treat yourself to a delicious homemade pizza to either eat in and enjoy with a Brewshed pint or take away to have at home. You have a choice of 5 different pizzas, all cost £8.
Pizza’s are available every Tuesday 6-9pm
The Crown at Hartest are passionate about beer and wine.
Their sister brewery, Brewshed, just outside Bury St Edmunds, means they always have 3 of their own beers on tap (their Pale Ale and Best and a Brewshed guest beer) as well as local cider.
You can chose from over 30 wines and sherries, with 15 available by the glass, served in 125ml and 250ml sizes. A 500ml carafe is also available for those that would like a couple of glasses but don’t want to dig into a whole bottle
For those that love a gin, you can choose from 6 different varieties, including local Norfolk Gin and Suffolk Distillery gin, all served with Fever Tree Tonics.
You can enjoy their local roasted coffee, the Gusto Pronto blend; an exclusive coffee to the family of Gusto Pronto pubs which is roasted in Bury St Edmunds by Crude Coffee Roasters
In addition, for customers that don’t want an alcoholic drink, you’ll find a wide variety of soft drinks available including Suffolk based Maynard Juices.
The Crown has an extensive and wonderful beer garden, with an outside bar serving drinks and pizza in the Summer.
If you enjoy walking, the Crown is the perfect place to start and finish your walk. You can take a look at some local Hartest walks here. Walkers and cyclists are welcome and catered for. Feel free to put in your food order at the bar, and they’ll have your meals ready for you when you return.
The Crown also proudly support the Refill scheme, so if you’re passing and you need to replenish your water bottle, they will happily fill it for you
Free Wifi is also available.
