However, the holiday season should be seen as an opportunity for businesses to get in front of their customers and potential customers for the rest of the following year.

Here are some simple steps to start an affordable year long promotion based around the holiday season.

Step 1

Create a page on your website with a Christmas specific offer. Use this page to inform your customers of your Christmas opening hours and any changes to lead times or services over the holiday period.

Step 2

Send your clients a branded Christmas card. Make sure you include your company logo and a nice message on the inside. On the back of the card include a link to your Christmas promotion or if you want to be more subtle use a QR code.

Step 2.5

Send your clients a branded gift to last the year. The best, easiest and affordable gifts tend to be items like calendars, diaries and mugs. If you are sending out a calendar or diary why not include a different promotion each month? This should keep people interested and encourage sales throughout the year.

Step 3

Link 2013s promotions in with your calendar or diary. Remind people to look for their promotions, keep yourself in your client's thoughts throughout the year.
