Thousands of visitors braved the wet and windy weather to enjoy another great year of blooms, gardening, cooking, musical acts, and a host of high adrenaline action as part of the 132nd Shrewsbury Flower Show.

The Quarry welcomed people of all ages from across the country to the event held on Friday, and Saturday.

As well as marquees overflowing with beautiful flowers, vegetables, and floral arrangements, the show gardens and gardening demonstrations, overseen by celebrity gardener David Domoney from ITV’s Love Your Garden, also drew in the crowds.

Well-loved television chef John Torode was on hand to deliver culinary delights and tips, musical entertainment was delivered by Scouting For Girls, Gary Mullen and The Works - Queen Tribute Band, as well as Of One Accord, and the Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir. 

Viewers in the main arena were treated to breath-taking stunts by the Imps Motorcycle Display Team, plus the grand finale fireworks demonstration, which this year included laser shows.

Members of the Shropshire Horticultural Society, which organises the annual event, said everyone was delighted at how well the show had gone, given the exceptional weather forecast and conditions.

Andrew Cross, chair of the Shropshire Horticultural Society, said it was absolutely fantastic to see so many visitors enjoying the annual floral extravaganza which has been transformed into so much more than a flower show over the years.

He added: “Shrewsbury Flower Show is such an important event in the national horticultural calendar.

“We welcome people from all across the country, and it’s wonderful to see everyone, young and old, enjoying a brilliant day out. 

“We pride ourselves on providing something for everyone with the central theme of flowers and gardening key to our heritage.

“The children’s attractions were better than ever this year and we also had a wide selection of trade stalls. 

“Overall we had thousands of visitors through the gates, which was brilliant. The Show brings so much to Shrewsbury and the surrounding villages and towns in the county too - people come and stay over in our hotels, eat in our restaurants and visit our beautiful town.

“We would like to thank our army of volunteers who make our show such a success every year - it wouldn’t happen without their amazing efforts.”

Next year’s Shrewsbury Flower Show will be the 133rd, and it is being held on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th August. Ticket information will be announced in due course.
