So 2008 is almost over. A year of good news (Bush out, Obama in), bad news (Spice Girls reuniting) and very bad news (recession). A mixed bag indeed but hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel. I mean, at least Britney's on the road to recovery.
Seriously, at the moment things are of course tight for everyone. But personally I am going to continue supporting local shops in Shrewsbury and try to ignore the nationals offering 95% off everything. It's terrific that some local businesses have thrived in 2008, expanding, employing and refusing to buckle under all the doom-mongering. And new shops are still opening, don't forget - Pengwern tile & stone, Toot Sweets, Shrewsbury Music Bros, to name but a few. If there are some new businesses that you've loved using, let us know here.
I hope you had a great Christmas, eating lots, drinking lots and watching The World's Strongest Man. (Am thinking of entering that myself next year, although the Atlas Stones could be a problem.... Maybe they'll let me replace them with some freakishly large Maltesers....) Have a wonderful New Year's Eve and both Emma and I wish you a prosperous and peaceful 2009.
