The Shrewsbury Club is gearing up for its popular annual Open Day on Sunday - with funds raised from a host of fun attractions going to Hope House Children's Hospice.

Hundreds of people are expected to flock to the Sundorne Road complex, a family friendly health club and indoor tennis centre which also features the Hub bistro cafe bar and an Imagine Spa.

They can try their hand between 10am and 5pm at a number of activities with families invited to register to take part in a rounders competition while visitors of all ages can also have a go at tennis.

There will be local market stalls, plenty of food and drink available including a hog roast and a Pimms tent, gym challenges, complimentary spa treatments, group fitness masterclasses and live music from noon from club member Jordan Brown.

"It's a day for everyone to come and experience The Shrewsbury Club, whether they're a member or not," said Andy Thomas, the club's sales and marketing manager. "Members can bring their family and friends along while anyone who just wants to come and see the club can come and try everything that we offer, and most of the activities are free of charge.

"Local businesses are invited to come along and advertise their products and we've really got something for everyone, from ballet to a boot camp for families, while Budgen Motors will also be showcasing their cars.

"This is always a popular event and we had a great day last year when the weather was kind, so hopefully this Sunday's open day will be even busier."
