Generous customers attending this year’s successful West Midlands Caravan, Motorhome and Destinations Show in Shrewsbury helped to raise more than £600 for mental health charity Shropshire Mind.

Featuring the latest in touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans, holiday homes and lodges, more than 15,000 visitors flocked to Salop Leisure’s headquarters at Emstrey.

The largest free caravan showcase in the UK, the event offered a host of free family attractions and also the opportunity for guests to explore Love2Stay, Salop Leisure's luxury touring and glamping resort.

Volunteers from Shropshire Mind provided teas, coffees and biscuits to customers over three successive weekends in return for receiving donations to the Shrewsbury-based charity.

Ed Glover, Salop Leisure’s marketing manager, said: “Just over £600 was raised for Shropshire Mind and their volunteers did a great job in supporting the event.

“As a company, we always like to promote and support local charities and we were delighted to have Shropshire Mind as this year’s chosen charity.

“Mental health awareness is very much in the spotlight, so it was pleasing to be able to highlight the excellent work which continues to be done locally.”

Heather Ireland, manager of Shropshire Mind, which has been providing support and services to people affected by mental health issues since 1974, said the money raised from serving refreshments at Salop Leisure would help support the services they offer.

She added: “We were delighted to be invited by Salop Leisure to support this event. It provided us with a wonderful platform to promote the wide range of services we offer in Shropshire and also the opportunity to continue to dispel the stigma surrounding mental ill-health, whilst raising much needed funds."

Ed added the 16-day West Midlands Caravan, Motorhome and Destinations Show proved to be extremely popular with visitors.

He said: “It ran over three weekends and was very successful, with both great sales and footfall figures. The feedback received from customers has been fantastic.”
