Shropshire Horticultural Society, organisers of Shrewsbury Flower Show, which has become one of the UK’s top gardening and leisure shows, are looking forward to a successful year after receiving a capacity entry for trade stands, with still well over a week to go.

Marketing co-ordinator Helen Griffiths, commented: “As both national and local floral entries and displays go from strength to strength we are delighted to secure this support from traders wishing to take up space to exhibit on the showground.

“The Craft stalls, Food Hall and Farmers Market were sold out in June and it is good to see that traders and caterers can recognise the reputation that the show has nationally and therefore the potential for them to do well.”

The first trade stand to sign up this year was local company Sportscarhire, of Battlefield, Shrewsbury, who specialise in hiring out a wide range of self-drive exotic cars and proprietor Paul Edwards brought along a £150,000 Bentley Continental Cabriolet to meet some of the staff on site.

Paul, said: “Being a relatively new company we exhibited cars for the first time last year and were simply amazed at the success of our stand, which created a great deal of interest and many weekend hire bookings of our sports cars, so we’re really looking forward to this year.

“We hope that our display will provide visitors with an idea of the extent of our stable which includes a range from Lotus Seven and Lotus Elise, through Aston Martin and Porsche, to a Bentley Continental and a Lamborghini Gallardo, all available for fun trips, weekend breaks or special occasions.”

The show itself will host several amazing floral marquees, Premiership Show   Jumping in the main arena, Falconry display, Medieval Knight jousting, Quad Bike stunt displays and Bob Hogg with his ducks, dog and sheep display, together with a full programme of family entertainment.

The evenings will see a concert by classical cross-over company Encora on Friday with The Proclaimers on Saturday, followed by fireworks both nights.
