At PCB Solicitors LLP, we’re always looking for meaningful ways to give back to our community. One of our recent initiatives involved supporting a truly inspiring local charity, The Harry Johnson Trust, which provides vital support to children and teenagers with cancer across Shropshire and Mid Wales.

About The Harry Johnson Trust

Founded in November 2014, The Harry Johnson Trust was created in memory of Harry Johnson, a bright and fun-loving seven-year-old who sadly passed away after a courageous nine-month battle with Double Hit Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

During Harry’s treatment, his family experienced the many challenges faced by families of children with cancer. Inspired by the care and compassion they received, they established the Trust to offer practical and emotional support to others going through similar journeys.

What the Trust Does

Run entirely by volunteers, the Trust works closely with the Oncology Team at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. Their support includes:

Harry’s Hampers – essentials for families unexpectedly admitted to hospital

  • Special Gifts – personalised items to bring comfort and joy
  • Harry’s House – a peaceful retreat for families in Mid Wales
  • Family Fun – vouchers for days out, meals, and treats
  • Perfect Pillows – soft fleece pillowcases and blankets for children undergoing chemotherapy
  • Memory Bears – keepsakes made from a child’s clothing for bereaved families
  • Supershoes – custom-designed shoes to help children express their personality during treatment
  • These thoughtful touches help make an incredibly difficult time just a little bit easier for families.

Our Sweet Contribution

One of the Trust’s simple but powerful gestures is giving paper-wrapped sweets to children after particularly tough treatments – like GCSF injections, which can be painful. These small treats offer a moment of comfort and encouragement.

To support this initiative, we invited our teams across all offices to donate paper-wrapped sweets. The response was fantastic, and we were able to collect a colourful and generous selection.

We were delighted to pass the sweets on to Sally Johnson, founder of the Trust, who continues to lead the charity’s incredible work with dedication and compassion. It was a proud moment for our team to contribute to such a meaningful cause.

Looking Ahead

This initiative is just one part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local causes that make a real difference. We’re excited to explore more ways we can collaborate with The Harry Johnson Trust in the future.

Thank you to everyone who took part, you’ve helped bring smiles to some very brave young faces.
