Shropshire small businesses targeted by HMRC

Taxi firms and restaurant owners in Shropshire are the latest small business targets for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) a local expert has warned.

Nigel Lomax, who runs the award-winning TaxAssist Accountants in Shrewsbury, said: “Local taxi firm owners and restaurant owners in Shropshire can expect spot checks and intensive scrutiny of their business records as they become the next focus for the tax man.

"HMRC’s latest taskforces are part of a national campaign aiming to recover some £23 million in taxes.

“HMRC are focusing on those they think are deliberately “breaking the rules”.

“Provided they have all the right procedures, records and proof of income and expenditure in place, Shropshire taxi firms and restaurant owners can protect their legitimate earnings and show the tax inspector the door.”

TaxAssist Accountants Shrewsbury is a local business itself, providing tax and accountancy advice and services to more than 400 small businesses."
