An award-winning Shropshire Care company has launched a new major branch of care and is addressing a “desperate shortage” for local live in care services across the county.

Responding to local need, where there is a shortage of this type of local care, the service sees a carer live with the customer. Live in care services are usually outsourced and run by national companies, but Bluebird Care Shropshire will be bringing years of local and knowledge and experience to its county customers to provide a superior service covering Shropshire.

Live in Care, which launched this month, is being headed up by Kirsty Holland, Specialist Care Coordinator. Kirsty started as a part-time carer with the company seven years ago and progressed to supervisor and care manager and after recently returning from maternity leave was promoted yet again. Her role will see her developing and growing this new service throughout Shropshire and continuing to develop the companies complex, local care services.

“This service means we can be responsive to people’s needs and tailor our care to each individual with 100%, 24-hour, local back-up,” said Kirsty.

“Most agencies which provide this sort of care are not local and can be based 100s of miles away, sending carers who aren’t from or know the local area at all. Ours service eliminates those issues, and because we are all based in the immediate local area, we can be more responsive.

“This is for people who want an alternative to residential care or want a really consistent service and to get to know their carer. It will be locally managed, always responsive and on your doorstep.”

Director of Bluebird Care, Ian Barnes, said: “This service is aimed at older people needing support with a range of conditions from MS to dementia. They might not have family locally, so this service would offer a constant support, or it might be someone who needs help 24/7 and their care might not be met by regular care calls.

“Our Shropshire location is rural and being a local company we know the people, the area, the agencies and services that operate within it and how to access them at any time. We can get to any part of the county within 45 minutes from our head office in Shrewsbury and a national company just can’t achieve this kind of back-up. It’s a service we have been working on and developing some some-time and there is a desperate need for this type of care within our county.”
