A Shropshire art gallery is celebrating after securing sponsorship of its new telephone line and internet connection.

Shrewsbury based IT and telephone systems provider Shropshire ITC, recently installed the new broadband line at the town’s Market Hall gallery, which is run by volunteers from county-wide organisation and charity the Visual Art Network (VAN). In return Shropshire ITC’s logo will appear on updated VAN stationery and its website, with a link to www.shropshireitc.com.

Carola Fielden, chair of VAN and founder of the Market Hall Gallery, said: “Having a telephone line and internet access will open up so many opportunities for VAN and the gallery.

"Not only can members and the general public contact us to find out about forthcoming exhibitions but our volunteers, who are more often than not working artists in their own right, can also catch up with emails, update websites and so forth during quiet periods when the gallery is open.

"This is a great example of how business and the arts can combine to be of mutual benefit and we extend our thanks to Shropshire ITC for its support and generosity.”

Mike Minton, owner of Shropshire ITC, said: “Most of the work we carry out is for SMEs and other businesses in the West Midlands and throughout the UK, so it is good to not only be supporting a community based arts enterprise, but one that is on our doorstep. We wish the gallery continued success.”

The Market Hall gallery’s new telephone number is 01743 344906. More information about VAN can be found at www.vanetwork.co.uk.
