Shrewsbury young professionals raise money for local charities

Two local charities have received a generous boost thanks to the efforts of the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) and the Shrewsbury Young Professionals Group.

The quiz, held at the Lord Hill Hotel, was hosted by local radio podcasters Simon Berry and Tim Barnes and a total of £800 was raised on the night.

ILEX chairperson Nicola Pearce, who works at Shrewsbury legal firm Wace Morgan, said they were "delighted" with the amount collected, which was split between the Severn Hospice and Midlands Air Ambulance.

Nicola said: “It was a great night and very well attended by teams from firms in the town. We know how difficult it is for local charities to raise money so were happy to use our contacts to support them, especially as members of our organisations have benefited from the work of both of these charities.

“We hope to organise similar events throughout 2012.”

Michelle Rowden of the appeals department at Severn Hospice received a cheque for £400 from Nicola Pearce and Sophie Davies, also of ILEX.

She commented: “We are very grateful for the generous cheque which will go towards patient care at the hospice.”
