A Shrewsbury solicitors practice is celebrating after successfully recruiting three graduates and being nominated for an award.

A profession in the law continues to be a popular choice both for those embarking on their careers, as well as for mature students considering taking a change of direction.

Despite the recent downturn in the economy, and the precarious nature of the job market, local law firm Lanyon Bowdler continues to recruit trainee solicitors on an annual basis, and this September will see three graduates join the firm.

It is thanks to the current trainee solicitors, plus those who have recently qualified, that Lanyon Bowdler has been nominated for an award at this year’s LawCareers.Net Training & Recruitment Awards. Nominated for Best Trainer – Small Firm, the firm will find out if they are winners at the awards presentation ceremony which takes place on 24 May 2012 at the Gherkin Building in London.

LawCareers.Net is a comprehensive, one-stop online resource created for future lawyers and those who recruit them.  The site is designed to help users manage their research and maximise their chances of breaking into the profession. As such it is the market-leading product in a highly competitive environment.

Training partner, Colin Spanner, said: “I am delighted to see Lanyon Bowdler nominated for this award and I would like to thank all those who have provided positive feedback to LawCareers.Net.

“We receive well over 250 applications each year, and it is my job to shortlist and interview the selected candidates. The contracts generally commence each September and take two years to complete. Successful applicants spend time working in various departments, broadening their knowledge as well as helping identify the area best suited to them.”

Lanyon Bowdler is Shropshire’s largest law firm. With 17 partners and in the region of 200 experienced staff, the firm is able to offer legal advice throughout both counties from local offices.

The head office is situated in Shrewsbury at Abbey Lawn Business Park, a further five offices are located in Hereford, Ludlow, Oswestry, Telford Town Centre, and Wellington.
