A Shropshire firm of solicitors is celebrating after three members of staff were officially recognised with a prestigious industry accolade for their expertise in advising and supporting vulnerable clients.

PCB Solicitors’ Pauline Davies, Susan Grazier and Nicola Pugh, have obtained the Older Client Care in Practice (OCCP) award, which is awarded to lawyers who provide specialist advice to families who need help with the complexity of legal issues which can arise when family members need care or help managing at home, or wish to plan for the future.

The award, which is accredited by Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) which Pauline, Susan and Nicola are members of, recognises those who can effectively interpret complex legal guidance in a sensitive and compassionate way and respect clients’ needs and wishes. In order to receive the accreditation, all participants are required to undertake an assessment which focuses on providing relevant and accessible support to clients with specific needs – treating them as individuals and assisting them in their particular circumstances, as well as safeguarding and protecting their interests.

Rachael Hughes, Managing Partner of PCB Solicitors, said: “We’re delighted that Pauline, Susan and Nicola have been recognised for their achievements. This demonstrates their expertise in interpreting complex legal documents for older and vulnerable clients. As a firm, we’re dedicated to supporting our staff through training and development, not only for their own career progression but so that we can ensure we continue to offer our clients the very best advice and guidance on legal matters.”

SFE solicitors provide advice and guidance

in areas including Lasting or Enduring Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection matters, transferring property, equity release, leasehold and freehold retirement property, estate planning including the use of Trusts and a number of other areas.

Pauline explained: “Having been a member of Solicitors for the Elderly for almost ten years, I’m really pleased to be recognised once again by the organisation for my work advising and supporting people. With the population living longer than ever before, protecting everyone including older and vulnerable people and helping them navigate the often complex legal system is absolutely vital, and SFE helps maintain best practice and ensure members deliver legal advice in an appropriate and caring way.

“If you’d like to obtain more information about the Solicitors for the Elderly organisation, or if you have a legal concern and wish to speak to one of our SFE members, please contact us on 01743 248148 or through your nearest office” Pauline concluded.
