A well-respected family-run firm of Shrewsbury funeral directors is celebrating success after it was shortlisted in the region’s annual Shropshire Business Awards.

Aubrey Kirkham Funeral Directors has been recognised for its commitment to care after it was announced as just one of four businesses to be shortlisted in the Customer Service category, which acknowledges those who go the extra mile to look after customer needs.

Aubrey Kirkham, Director of the firm, explained: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted. Just last month we were awarded with the Gold Mayor of Shrewsbury Award, as well as the Overall Winner in the Courtesy category, so to be selected as a finalist in the Shropshire Business Awards really is the icing on the cake.”

The firm’s customer service was evidenced through its ongoing staff training and development, feedback from its customer survey which highlighted an impressive 100% satisfaction rate, and the introduction of new services committed to supporting families who have suffered a loss, including the Expression of Wishes form which was designed to remove the pressure of second-guessing a loved one’s wishes on their passing.

“We care passionately about our business and pride ourselves in constantly developing new initiatives to help support families through what can be a very difficult time,” Aubrey added. “To have this recognised is a great honour and we’re very much looking forward to the Business Award celebrations next month,” he concluded.

Organised by Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, this year’s unique event is taking place on Friday 11th July at The International Centre, Telford, and is set to welcome a diverse range of businesses who will come together to celebrate and recognise the best businesses in the county.

Founded at the turn of the century, Aubrey Kirkham Funeral Directors saw the culmination of Aubrey’s 30-year vision to run a respectful and esteemed funeral service. The firm has introduced a number of dedicated initiatives, including access to support DVDs from internationally-renowned grief counsellors, as well as launching its Expression of Wishes form to give people the opportunity to make a note of things that are important to them, helping their families arrange the perfect ceremony.
