Shrewsbury Folk Festival 2026 was another fantastic weekend for our family, combining great music, a brilliant atmosphere and plenty of memories that we’ll be talking about for a long time.

From the moment we arrived, there was a real sense of excitement and a real community vibe amongst campers and day visitors at this dog and family-friendly festival. There is such a welcoming, friendly feel, and it’s one of those rare places where everyone seems to be there for the same reason, to enjoy good music, have fun and be part of something special. With so much happening across the weekend, we were spoilt for choice from inflatables and circus skills for the kids, to workshops, impromptu folk sessions breaking out all over and several tents and the main stage offering more than 65 acts across the bank holiday weekend.

The headline acts certainly didn’t disappoint. Andy Fairweather Low & The Low Riders were a real highlight, delivering a fantastic set full of musical experience and energy. Cara Dillon was another standout, with her beautiful voice creating one of those magical festival moments where the whole audience seemed completely absorbed. Ferocious Dog brought a completely different energy, and their exclusive performance with The Celtic Folk Orchestra was unforgettable. There were also brilliant performances from international artists, including Lucinda Williams, adding even more variety to an already impressive line-up.

One of the things we particularly enjoyed as a family was the freedom to wander around, discover something unexpected and soak up the atmosphere. There is always music somewhere at this festival, people dancing, children are really involved with plenty of activities, chances to have a go and people willing to help out at every stop.

And yes, we had some rain! But honestly, it didn’t dampen our spirits. Shrewsbury Folk Festival is an all-weather festival, and everyone simply pulled on their best festival waterproofs, embraced the mud and carried on enjoying themselves. In fact, a little rain somehow seemed to become part of the fun.

For us, Shrewsbury Folk Festival 2026 wasn’t just about the music; it was about spending quality time together, making memories and enjoying the wonderful community spirit.
