A Shrewsbury based same day courier company’s commitment to delivering outstanding service has been formally acknowledged after it achieved an internationally-recognised quality accreditation.

Dex’s Midnight Runners (DMR) has officially obtained ISO9001 certification after successfully completing a series of rigorous independent assessments and external audits into its policies and procedures. 

The accolade demonstrates the firm, which was founded in 2004 by highly experienced logistics professional Derek Bennion, has implemented an effective Quality Management System across its entire day-to-day operations and is fully committed to ‘quality, customers and improving efficiency’.

Derek said: “Achieving ISO9001 certification involved a particularly meticulous analysis of our working practices carried out over a number of months.

“All our policies, procedures, and systems were independently inspected to ensure they were measurable and achievable, then we had to successfully pass a full-on external audit, which focused on areas including whether appropriate levels of staff training were in place, and how we as a business monitor customer satisfaction and respond to their feedback.

“In the industry we work in, reliability and responsiveness are often taken as a given, but each and every customer still needs reassurance that their parcel or package will be delivered safely and on time, which is why we are delighted that our way of doing business meets internationally-recognised quality standards.”

As well as successfully securing ISO9001 certification, DMR has also been shortlisted in the final four companies in the Outstanding Customer Service category at the Shropshire Business Awards, in no small part due to the firm’s track record of not just helping clients deal with ‘one-off’ same day delivery dilemmas and emergencies, but because of its ongoing work for a diverse range of customers and businesses, including operating a fully-refrigerated sample collection and delivery service for utilities and environmental testing companies such as Welsh Water.

ISO9001 is a quality management systems framework published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that aims to help businesses ensure that they meet the needs of its customers and other stakeholders. There are currently approximately 42,000 companies in the UK that have successfully obtained ISO9001 certification.
