Shrewsbury College is encouraging people to consider enrolling onto a course this New Year.

The College will be hosting an advice evening on Thursday, 15, January, between 5-7pm, for people to find out more about the variety of courses on offer, many of which are starting in January. There will be tutors and staff on hand to offer support and guidance.

Whether you want to develop your skills, pursue a new career or improve in your current one, or if you are an employer who is considering hiring an apprentice or training your staff, the College offers a wide range of professional  and higher level qualifications.

There are also an abundance of one day workshops and short courses for fun available.

Some courses may have fee remissions, or may even be free, depending on your individual circumstances.

Students aged 24 and over, studying courses at Level 3 and above, may also be eligible for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan, a government initiative which was created to encourage adults back into education. The loan is not means tested and is not repayable until the student is earning more than £21,000 a year.

Angelique Clarkson, 46, from Shrewsbury, currently studying Counselling, said: “It really doesn’t matter what your age, gender or interest, everyone is made to feel welcome.

“I accessed the 24+ loan to help me fund my course which has been extremely helpful and it is reassuring to know that if I don’t obtain a job earning £21,000 I won’t have to pay it back.”

The part-time prospectus, featuring all of the courses which start from January, can be found on the College website at www.shrewsbury.ac.uk please call Course Advice on 01743 342325 for more information.

The Advice Event is also appropriate for anyone leaving school this summer who wants to look at their options for September 2015 starts.
