With a host of advice events coming up at Shrewsbury College offering information about all areas of College life, it’s not too late to find out about a course and enrol for a September start.

Whatever your current level of qualification or circumstances, the staff at Shrewsbury College are here to help you find the full or part-time course that’s right for your career development or to help you into higher education or employment.

There are a number of events from September 1, with some additional special drop-in sessions for the new multi-GCSE programme and new Higher Education courses on offer. Advice on student support, additional learning support, transport and financial assistance will also be available.

The College has added new subsidised bus routes to its existing transport links, so from September, students can travel on the new Wrexham and Whitchurch route, as well bus services from Powys/Oswestry, and Bridgnorth/Telford areas. In addition the College is putting on a minibus shuttle service from Shrewsbury town Centre bus station to the London Road site every morning between 8-9am and each evening between 4-5.30pm.

Freya Rowlands, 20, from Newtown, studying HND Performing Arts, said: “It is great that the College offers Higher Education courses locally and for me it has meant saving more money and having a more productive lifestyle.

“Shrewsbury College isn’t the closest college to my home, but it is the only college in a commuting distance that offers this higher education course. I enjoy this course much more than the one I was doing at university, there are a lot more opportunities and practical based work. There is always something exciting going on and the department has a fantastic buzz about it.”

Emily Burroughs, 17, has studied the Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s & Young People’s Settings. She said: “Shrewsbury College appealed more to me because the course offered the best balance of practical and theory based work. I would definitely recommend anyone considering coming to do so!”

The College is holding advice events on 1 September 5.30pm to 7.30pm and 3, 9 and 11 from 5-7pm.

There is an event tomorrow (5 September) from 10am to 1.45pm to get advice on a special year long programme of study of six GCSEs including maths, English, Science and Languages.

Additionally there is a special drop in advice event at the College’s Origins Restaurant on London Road on Monday (8 September) from 5-7pm for anyone specifically interested in higher level Health & Social Care, Counselling and Education courses.
