A local accountant has been celebrating after his firm scooped top prize in a national awards scheme dedicated to recognising excellence with the franchise industry.
Nigel Lomax, owner and director of Shrewsbury-based TaxAssist Accountants, saw the organisation named Franchisor of the Year 2010, beating tough competition from a number of successful multi-national chains including Dominos Pizza, McDonald’s and Autosmart.
The awards, organised by the British Franchise Association, were set up to highlight the hard work, passion and achievements of franchise businesses across the UK, and to recognise the best in the industry for customers, suppliers and potential franchisees.
Nigel acquired the Shrewsbury franchise of TaxAssist Accountants in 2003 and moved to his ‘shop-front’ location in the Sundorne area of the town three years ago. Since then, he and his team have been championing smaller businesses across the county, providing dedicated accountancy services and advice.
Nigel commented: “Winning this prestigious and much coveted award is a huge accolade for the franchise as a whole, and I am absolutely delighted that the organisation has been recognised in this way, particularly in light of the strong competition faced.
“As advocates of owner-managed businesses across the region, our philosophy is based on a business model of a team of local, approachable and client-focused accountants, but with a strong national technical and operational support behind it.”
