The second business information event hosted by the best of Shrewsbury team has gone with a bang!

The new marketing and advice evening in Shrewsbury was established to help the local business community maximise their potential.

‘An Evening With’ thebestof Shrewsbury launched in October when its inaugural event was held at Greenhous Meadow, the home of Shrewsbury Town Football Club. The follow-up, at the same venue, which attracted almost 50 attendees, was peppered with guest speakers, informal networking plus the ever reliable buffet and bar....

The event gives Shropshire entrepreneurs the chance to mingle and create important new contacts but is not a “traditional” networking session.

The people behind it, Andy and Emma Rao, directors of thebestof Shrewsbury and its sister marketing company Key 3 Media, and Catherine Roche, PR & Marketing manager, are all based in Shrewsbury.

Andy said: “We understand that making contacts and learning more about business can become a bit samey at the usual networking meetings, so we binned the one-minute speeches and created a fresh event where bumping into the same people week in week out won’t happen.

“There were talks this time round of course, from Alan Adams of Horizons Business Consultants about pricing, myself regarding social media and Felicity Wingrove, director of Zen Communications who told the audience all about the importance of strategic PR.

"Joel Stone at Salop Creative also brought his trusty camera to capture some great shots for us.

“Overall, we want people to enjoy the knowledge and company of fellow local business owners and managers, learn about 'insider' tools that cost nothing yet can make your business lots, hear from guest speakers on branding, social media and communication and make invaluable partnerships.”

Rebecca Hayes of Abbey Kitchens based in Shrewsbury, said: "I thought the event was brilliant. I found the imformative talks really interesting and certainly gave me some great perspectives to think about our business. I made some very useful contacts. The venue is excellent, with easy access, plenty of parking and a superb buffet. Informally chatting to people is the best way to network."

Andy added: “One of the great things about thebestof Shrewsbury is that it brings so many different businesses together. We work with everyone, from accountants and solicitors to nail bars, window cleaners and everything in between. Not only are the businesses local, but so are the people behind them.”
