Award-winning Shropshire caravan and motorhome dealership Salop Leisure enjoyed one of its busiest ever Easter weekends.

More visitors than ever

More than 11,000 people visited the company’s headquarters in Shrewsbury between Good Friday and Easter Monday, which was 31 per cent more than the same period last year.

Sales of caravan holiday homes, touring caravans and motorhomes were reported to be 30 per cent up on Easter last year, which continues an upward trend since the start of the 2017.

Popular at Easter

The company’s Emstrey headquarters was one of the few places open for business on Easter Sunday, which proved popular with customers.

“We had lots of first time buyers and young families, which is particularly pleasing,” said Tony Bywater, Salop Leisure’s chairman. “The message that caravan and motorhome ownership represent great value for money for families seems to be hitting home."

Staycations in the UK

Tony continued: “I think the weakness of the pound against other currencies, which is making foreign holidays more expensive, the continual threat of international terrorism and the hassle at airports has convinced many British people, especially those with young families, to spend their holidays in the UK this year.

“The beauty of owning a caravan holiday home is that you or other members of your family can enjoy a holiday or short break any time you please and you can be assured of a high standard of comfortable accommodation. Today’s holiday homes offer home from home luxury and the quality of parks in Mid Wales and the Heart of England is comparable if not better than other parts of the UK.”
