If you are considering a career in Bricklaying, or want to enhance your current skills whilst gaining a qualification, then there has never been a better time to try your hand at a part-time course at Shrewsbury College.
Budding bricklayers are being encouraged to enrol onto the City and Guilds (C&G Diploma in Bricklaying Level 1 and 2 courses, which will be running for one year on Monday and Tuesday evenings, from 6-9pm, starting 22 September.
Richard Corbett, Assessment Team Leader for Brickwork, said: “With the housing market booming and confidence in the economy returning, construction growth should remain strong through 2014/15 and those working in the industry can expect to receive a good income.
“The programmes we offer are designed to give our students broad knowledge and understandings of the Construction Industry, so we would like to invite anyone considering working in the industry to enrol onto one of our courses.”
Ryan Stevens, who previously studied Bricklaying at Shrewsbury College, is currently training for the Sao Paulo World Skills final as member of the UK team. He said: “I don’t think I would be in this position without the help of my tutors Shrewsbury College, I started on the 14-16 programme and progressed through Levels 1 and 2, and have just finished my Level 3 Apprenticeship.”
Shrewsbury College is also offering a five week, part-time Basic Bricklaying course, which is due to begin in November.
