The owners of a specialist plants centre in Shrewsbury, which has just celebrated its second birthday, have expressed pride in what has been achieved to date.

Love Plants, located at caravan and motorhome dealership Salop Leisure’s Emstrey headquarters, was opened on March 22, 2013 by celebrity gardener Chris Beardshaw and is now firmly established with gardeners in Shrewsbury and surrounding area.

The owners wanted to make Love Plants stand out from rivals by providing good, old fashioned customer service and expert advice about garden design and the best plants for a particular location and soil type.

The 4,500 square metres plant centre has assembled an experienced team and all the quality plants, shrubs and trees sold are supplied by the highly respected Dingle Nurseries and Derwen Garden Centre at Guilsfield, near Welshpool.

Love Plants sells a diverse range of specialist plants, alongside old garden favourites and accessories that support plant growth and plant health. Members of staff have different areas of expertise as well as a strong interest in horticulture and gardening as a whole.

Tony Bywater, chairman of Salop Leisure and Love Plants, is delighted that the plant centre is now well established and is looking forward to a successful year, as more customers are attracted by the quality plants and friendly service and expertise.

“With so many new homes being built in and around Shrewsbury there is a great need for advice about establishing a new garden from scratch and we have the staff with the knowledge and expertise to help,” he said.

“Our mission from the start was to establish a specialist centre where people could buy high quality plants, shrubs, trees, bulbs and seeds at sensible prices and get expert advice from qualified staff.

“Shrewsbury has a national reputation for being the Town of Flowers and has won virtually every award possible, including the Britain in Bloom Champion of Champions award last year. Because of this heritage, it was important that we established a very special plants centre and we are very proud of what has been achieved to date.”

Due to popular demand, Love Plants is stocking wide range of seed potatoes and peat free, recycled, organic compost this year and bare root fruit trees, hedging, conifers and evergreens have been a great demand.

“All our research points to the fact that customers are taking a much more interest in their gardens this year and we look forward to helping them plan for the months ahead when they can enjoy the fruits of their work,” said Love Plants’ manager Tim Robinson.
