Darren Hall, Operations Manager here at Storage King, took on the tough challenge of completing the London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April 2017.
“Over the past few years I have steadily got involved with running, increasing my general fitness and activity. I helped to set up the junior Shrewsbury park run which inspired me to challenge myself further, resulting in me entering the London marathon ballot in a moment of madness”.
Through the organisation of last years Storage King Gift Appeal, Darren got to meet 12 charities that Storage King were supporting. One of these was The Movement Centre, based in Oswestry Shropshire. The charity specialises in ‘Targeted Training’ for children with mobility disabilities. Targeted training helps children who suffer with cerebral palsy and who need support with their movement control to gain independence and a better quality of life.
Darren explains “I learnt about the work they did with children who had movement issues and it struck a chord with my passion to help kids become more active”.
After months of gruelling training Darren successfully completed the London Marathon in 5 hours 12 minutes raising almost £700 to The Movement Centre. “This was the hardest and most demanding challenge I have ever endured. It was a highly emotional experience for me and I am extremely proud that I overcame my fears to complete it”.
