A new offer to encourage visitors to take a short break in Shrewsbury is now in place.

Shrewsbury Tourism Association Ltd, in conjunction with the Wrexham and Shropshire Marylebone Railway Line, has developed a short break package to encourage visitors to beat the credit crunch and enjoy a weekend in Shrewsbury.

The offer, which includes rail travel from London Marylebone to Shrewsbury, also brings two nights' accommodation and breakfast at a choice of two hotels for just £99 per person.

Deborah Northwood, Promotions & Development Executive at Shrewsbury Tourism Association Ltd, said, "This new offer is a fantastic opportunity for the town to help beat the credit crunch. Incorporating an accommodation offer with the direct rail link from London to Shrewsbury is a good way in which to entice visitors to the town for a relaxing break without the need to bring their own car."

Deborah added, "This value for money package will enable visitors to enjoy Shrewsbury whilst also benefiting the town's shops, pubs, restaurants and attractions. We have been delighted to work with the Wrexham and Shropshire railway on the development of this offer."

Promoting the offer, Shrewsbury Tourism Association Ltd recently attended a special two-day promotion at the London Marylebone station to promote Shrewsbury to commuters.

Further commenting, Deborah said, "Visiting London provided Shrewsbury Tourism Association with an ideal opportunity to raise the profile of the offer to potential visitors and encourage people to use the new direct rail link to Shrewsbury."

Joanna Phillips, Wrexham & Shropshire's Marketing Executive, said, "Wrexham & Shropshire remain committed to making travel easier and more convenient for our passengers. We are delighted to be working with Shrewsbury Tourism Association to bring this great value deal to families and friends looking to enjoy Shrewsbury and all its delights."

Shrewsbury Tourism Association Ltd is a membership organisation and non-profit making company with a primary objective to encourage visitors to Shrewsbury, support the tourism businesses operating within Shrewsbury as well as a number of local projects and events.
