Medical negligence team grows at Shrewsbury law firm

Shrewsbury law firm Lanyon Bowdler’s established clinical negligence department has an ever expanding team of expert solicitors.

However, it may not be known that the department also receives valuable support from two nursing professionals, who work alongside the lawyers to ensure that each claim is viewed from both a legal and clinical perspective.

Legal medical assistants Gill Cheshire and Lisa Hopwood are both registered nurses, who between them have many years of nursing knowledge and experience. Their presence on the team means they are immediately on hand to speak to potential clients, and look at the medical issues alongside experienced clinical negligence solicitors.

Gill started working for the firm in July 2002 having previously been in nursing for 20 years, including within a special care baby unit, A & E and maxillofacial surgery. Gill holds a Diploma in Nursing.

Lisa joined the team in May 2012 prior to which she had nursed for six years in a hospital, hospice and most recently, nursing home settings.  Lisa gained her qualification from City University, London and trained with Bart’s and the London Trust.  She is still engaged in clinical practice.

Head of the clinical negligence department, partner Paula Nash said: “To have in-house nurses is hugely beneficial. They are valued members of the team and they add real value to the claims process.”
