With the changes to Making Tax Digital (MTD) coming into effect from 6th April 2026, we’ve been speaking to many individuals and business owners who are still unsure about what this means in practice.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. MTD represents one of the biggest changes to the UK tax system in recent years - but with the right support, it doesn’t have to be complicated or stressful.

What is Making Tax Digital?

Making Tax Digital is a government initiative designed to modernise the tax system. It requires individuals and businesses to keep digital records and submit updates to HMRC using compatible software, rather than traditional annual tax returns.

From April 2026, many self-employed individuals and landlords earning over £50,000 will need to comply with the new rules.

What does this mean for you?

Instead of submitting one tax return each year, you’ll need to:

  • Keep digital records of your income and expenses
  • Submit quarterly updates to HMRC
  • Complete an end-of-year final declaration

While this might sound like more work, the right systems can actually make managing your finances easier, more accurate, and more up to date throughout the year.

How we’re helping our clients prepare

All of our existing mandated clients have already been successfully enrolled, with a clear and straightforward plan in place for the transition.

We’ve focused on removing confusion and keeping things simple by:

  • Setting up user-friendly, MTD-compliant software
  • Providing step-by-step guidance tailored to each client
  • Offering ongoing support to ensure everything runs smoothly

The result? Our clients feel confident, organised, and fully prepared ahead of the deadline.

Why acting now matters

Leaving things until the last minute can lead to unnecessary stress, rushed decisions and potential compliance issues.

Getting set up early means you’ll have time to:

  • Understand the new system properly
  • Get comfortable with the software
  • Avoid penalties or disruption to your business

A simple, stress-free approach

Our focus is on making Making Tax Digital as straightforward as possible. We offer a clear, affordable solution tailored to your needs - without unnecessary jargon or complexity.

Whether you’re self-employed, a landlord, or running a growing business, we’ll help you put the right systems in place so you can stay compliant and in control.
