Is your design for print and online working to create you more business? Are you investing in intelligent, well-thought-out design or is design just proving a cost? Joel Stone from Salop Creative based near Shrewsbury can help you.
You should be challenging your designer to provide a return on your investment. Measuring ROI on your design work is not always easy, it should be considered as part of your overall marketing approach, one of several 'touch points' with your potential clients.
However, there are several techniques your designer should be implementing in their work that will show you they have your business interests at the forefront of their design methods.
Call to action
One of the key elements to any design work you commission for marketing your business is to ensure that you have a clear call to action. There should be an instruction in your marketing aimed at your potential clients.
This could be a command to call you, a competition, or something for imaginative.
Highlight your benefits
Your marketing material should point out the benefits of using your products or service. Why should anyone choose you over someone else? What makes you unique?
This can be communicated as clear pointers, or photography or even in the quality of the design and finish itself.
The text you use in your materials should be concise and engaging.
If you are not confident putting together your text, or your designer suggest some improvements, it could be worth hiring a copywriter to do it professionally.
Is the design suitable for your target audience? Your designer should have your target audience in mind whilst paying attention to your brand and ensuring they follow your brand identity guidelines.
These are just some of the steps your designer should be taking/advising on in order to make your marketing design work or you. If you would like some more information, or a FREE consultation on how to make your marketing design work for you.
