To launch new children’s book, ‘Ted, the Sea and Me,’ local author Anna Granger invites families to join her on Saturday 9th April for an exclusive story-time experience.
Anna will read aloud the journey of Tilly and her companion Ted, as they encounter the different seas. Anna highlights why creating this type of children’s book was important to her; ‘I wanted to create a story that can be used to facilitate a child centred, mindful approach to emotional wellbeing. Ted encourages Tilly to explore the similarities between her feelings and the Sea, understanding that they will come and go like the changing tides, but won’t last forever.’
Beginning at 10.30am this launch will take place at The Hive, an arts charity nestled in Shrewsbury town centre. Equipped with a performance space CEO Katie Jennings explains why Anna’s book struck a chord with the organisation; ‘We admired Anna’s ambition to reach out to children and help them navigate complex emotions in this challenging time. As our projects support the lives of children, young people and young adults in the local area we felt we could make this book launch an immersive and uniquely engaging experience.’
‘Ted, the Sea & Me’ is the premiere publication from 5 in a Boat Books. Directly after story-time with Anna the book’s illustrator Leanne Coelho will be delivering a drawing workshop for young artists! ‘Children will have the opportunity to create a character and have a go at drawing a crab with a difference!’
