People of all ages will be marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at this year’s Shropshire County Show in Shrewsbury – from newborns to couples celebrating 60 years of marriage.
The 2012 show takes place this Satuday on May 26 at the West Mid Showground and as Jubilee music fills the air, events to mark the anniversary will entertain visitors.
For the first time Baby Sensory Shropshire will attend the event and will host sensory experiences for babies aged 0-13 months in the Shropshire County Show Kids Zone.
Baby Sensory development classes include baby signing, music, games, light shows and much more – but will take on a Jubilee theme for the show.
And 2012 will also see the debut of Compost Kids, art workshops for children from 15 months upwards run by Sam Pooley in Shrewsbury’s Market Hall.
Rhea Alton, of the Shropshire County Show, said: “We are really pleased to welcome Helen Jones, of Baby Sensory, to the show. Our Kids Zone is larger than ever before and features a giant inflatable playground, land zorbing, trampolining and more.
“But we wanted to make sure we catered for every child and Baby Sensory and Compost Kids allows parents, babies and toddler to get involved in activities – and when the youngsters are tired out we have plenty to keep parents entertained.
“We also have a special baby-change unit on site in the Kids Zone as well as a picnic area. The activities will also be under cover to make sure fun will be had whatever the weather.”
Organisers of the event will also welcome four couples marking their 60th Anniversary year to join the 2012 President Geoffrey Davies for afternoon tea in the pavilion.
“Many couples across the county will be celebrating 60 years of marriage as the UK marks 60 years of the Queen’s reign,” added Mrs Alton.
“We wanted to celebrate their special dates as well as that of Queen Elizabeth and we hope that they will enjoy the day with us.”
Discounted early-bird tickets are now on sale for the Shropshire County Show and are available from the website www.shropshirecountyshow.com or from Shrewsbury Visitor Information Centre at Rowley’s House.
