How full is your toxin bucket?

Every day we are exposed to toxins through the air we breathe in, the food we eat, the water we drink and the chemicals we put on our skin.

Some toxins are man-made such as flame retardants, pesticides, cleaning products, plastics, preservatives and pharmaceuticals. Others can be natural and come from bacteria, viruses and internal metabolic processes. All of these toxins have to be safely processed and eliminated by the body. Just as a bucket fills with water and then can overflow, the same can happen with toxins in your body. Toxins enter your bucket every day and accumulate over the years and often you don’t notice any symptoms until the bucket overflows or a triggering event ‘tips it over the edge’.

To processes and eliminate toxins your body needs energy, rest and the right vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to do so. A modern day western diet can lack in nutrients and often people suffer from a weak digestive system, therefore the body can’t break down all the nutrients needed for proper detoxification and elimination. Additionally stress or the challenges of life can compromise systems in the body, causing reserves to run low and slow down detoxification. At this point, when your body is struggling to remove the accumulated toxins you may notice symptoms such as weight gain, fatigue, digestive complaints, headaches, allergies, joint aches, skin issues, allergies or be diagnosed with a disease or condition.

Reducing the load in the bucket can be key in reducing these symptoms and this can be done through optimising toxin elimination pathways and reducing toxin exposure.
