A leading Shropshire garden centre is compensating for there being no Shrewsbury Flower Show this year by organising great discounts on plants, shrubs and trees.
Love Plants, based at Salop Leisure’s Emstrey headquarters, is offering 20% off all quality stock, which has not already been discounted, from August 9-17.
Hardy palm trees, suitable for the UK climate, have 30% off their listed prices, which range from £19.99 for a one foot tree to £569 for eight foot specimens.
Remaining summer bedding plants are available with a 75% discount.
“We want to do something special this year to make up for the sad absence of Shrewsbury Flower Show,” explained Love Plants manager Tom Pountney, who has won award for the best show garden at the event.
“People who regularly visit the show are passionate about quality plants and that’s exactly what we offer at Love Plants. We would be delighted to welcome them to our garden centre to see the wide range of plants, shrubs and trees that we sell.”
Tom and his team are already preparing for the change of season with autumn flowering herbaceous plants. They also have a popular range of Himalayan terracotta plant pots, which are ideal for autumn planting, available from £4.99 to £39.99.
For gardeners struggling with prolonged drought and hot weather, he has tips to keep plants alive.
“Gardening is supposed to be enjoyable but it’s been very stressful with this year’s weather,” he added. “My advice is the mix water retaining gel with compost in pots which can stand in saucers for the summer. I also advise gardeners to put pots in the shade during the very hot weather.”
