Shrewsbury food lovers are in for a treat in December when a new Local Food Store opens its doors for food tasting sessions.
On Saturday 3rd and Saturday 10th, the new produce shop at Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre is holding tasters of different foodie Christmas gifts and on Saturday 17th people can sample cockerel from Packington Free Range in Staffordshire. This bird is becoming more and more popular as a Christmas dinner centrepiece so visitors are being invited to come along to try with ordering available through the shop.
Local goose, turkey and duck are also available to order. The last orders for Packington Free Range are to be placed on Saturday 10th and Saturday 17th for Heart of England Farms. An extensive range of fish from Fish in a Box, Newport, can also be ordered via the shop.
Cureton’s Fine Foods, Ellesmere, will also be running sampling sessions on Saturday 17th with its new Perfectly Potted range which has been developed together with Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre's TASTE kitchen chef, Ed Warren.
There are three varieties which are ideal for festive starters or as part of a Boxing Day spread – Pheasant with Cranberry and Orange, Chicken Liver with Pheasant and Calvados, and Wild Rabbit with Apple and Black Pudding.
In addition, there are a whole host of food based Christmas gifts including Chocolate and Cranberry Fudge, Christmas Shortbread, Sloe Gin, Christmas Cracker Beer, Festive Gingerbread, Christmas Cake and Mulled Wine Mix all from members of HEART of ENGLAND fine foods (HEFF).
Or you could choose a Wenlock Hamper stocked full of food and drink from Shropshire artisan producers or gift vouchers redeemable against Wenlock Hampers, the Local Food Store and for TASTE kitchen meals and cookery demonstrations.

The TASTE kitchen locally sourced Festive Menu is available for pre-bookings from now until Wednesday 21st December.
The Local Food Store at Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre, Battlefield Enterprise Park, is open Monday-Thursday from 8.30am-6pm, Friday 8.30am-5pm and Saturday 10am-4pm.
