A Shrewsbury company, which has tapped into a growing market for self-drive holidays and short breaks by hiring out luxury motorhomes, has invested in its fifth vehicle. 

Mark and Lisa Pugh from Shropshire Motorhome Hire based at Alberbury, near Shrewsbury, was launched in 2008. 

The venture has been so successful that the company has just added an Autocruise Quartet motorhome to its fleet of hire vehicles from Shrewsbury-based caravan and motorhome dealership Salop Leisure. 

The Autocruise Quartet, from the Swift Group, is the first true four-berth van conversion with enhanced performance from a new Euro 5 engine and cab package from Fiat and Peugeot. 

The 130bhp Euro 5 engine with six-speed gearbox gives up to nine per cent better fuel economy and seven per cent lower CO2 emissions than the equivalent Euro 4 engine, together with improved acceleration. 

Stuart Edwards, Salop Leisure’s motorhome sales specialist, praised the clever design of the new Autocruise Quartet, which enables four beds to be incorporated into the motorhome. 

“A lot of people like the idea of owning a motorhome, but some are worried about driving large vehicles,” he said. “That’s where the Autocruise Quartet comes into its own. It’s ideal for young families that don’t want a large vehicle parked on their drive.”
