Fashion students from Shrewsbury College showcased their creative talents last week as part of the College’s end of year Arts & Skills festival.
The students exhibited their collection pieces to large audiences during two, hour-long catwalk shows at Theatre Severn, on Friday. Spectators later took to twitter to praise the exceptional work the students had produced, and the professional atmosphere of the event.
Rachel Tinnion, Fashion lecturer at the College, said: “We are extremely proud of all of our students, who have produced some fantastic, industry-standard items. The show was a fantastic success and a testament to their hard work and determination.
“The College is continuing to grow local talent and a strong alumni in Fashion, with students gaining places at prestigious universities, some gaining impressive employment with international companies such as Disney and Attitude magazine, and several continuing onto our own HND in Fashion course,” she added.
Ex- Fashion student, Melissa Jones, 24, from Shrewsbury, studied at the College before gaining a place at Manchester Metropolitan University to study International Fashion Marketing. She is now working as an Assistant Merchandiser at one of Europe’s largest high-end suit tailors, Berwin & Berwin.
“My course at Shrewsbury College created a valuable stepping stone in my career and allowed me to progress onto university. I believe the skills and knowledge I acquired at the college have helped to benefit my career,” she said.
