Peter Smith, consultant in the commercial property department at Lanyon Bowdler, based in Shrewsbury, celebrates an incredible 50 years practising exclusively with the firm.

Peter qualified in 1967 after undertaking five years of Articles. He was admitted as one of the youngest ever solicitors later that year. In 1972 he became a partner with Littlewood Peace & Lanyon, and later played a key role in the merger of Lanyons and JCH Bowdler & Sons in 1986.

In 2000, Peter was appointed to the roles of senior partner and managing partner. He handed over the managing partner role three years later, but continued as a senior partner until 2006 when he became a consultant to the firm.

Senior partner Peter Flint said:“There can be very few solicitors in the country, and indeed in other professions, who have worked with the same firm for over half a century.

"Our firm is greatly appreciative of the hard work and devoted service which Peter has given to the firm over the years and his considerable knowledge and expertise has been highly valued by both his clients and his work colleagues throughout this lengthy period of time.”
