Owning a hot tub or swim spa is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable ways to make the most of the summer sun and longer days.
Our hot tubs offer cooling respite from the sweltering heat, and with a good few weeks left to go before autumn arrives you’re no doubt not thinking about the cold weather that is just around the corner. However, if you like to stay prepared, then now is the time to start.
As the colder seasons approach it’s important to prep your hot tub or swim spa for increased use over the coming months, but if the increased running costs are playing on your mind then we have the solution for you. Adding an air source heat pump to your existing hot tub will heat the water with much less energy and regulate the temperature of your spa year-round, so get a head start on your winter preparations with our guide to sourcing, installing and using an air source heat pump.
These standalone devices use natural heat that they extract from the outside air to heat up the water in your hot tub. They can be used all year round, even in cold weather and winter conditions, and offer the perfect way to keep your hot tub at the right temperature without increasing your energy usage.
Air source heat pumps work by using a pump fan to draw in the air and then using an evaporator coil filled with a liquid refrigerant to turn it into a gas. The gas is then compressed, heated and passed through the heat exchanger, which heats up the water and maintains a consistent temperature with an efficient and economical transfer of heat.
The models we stock have been proven to save up to 60% more energy compared to traditional gas or electric heaters and produce fewer emissions compared to these other options. They also use much smaller quantities of energy to generate the same heat output and using a refrigeration system can produce almost five times more energy as heat than it consumes. For example, the SpaNet SV Series 8.8kw pump only needs to consume 1.1kW of electrical power to provide around 5.5kw of heating power.
Adding a heat pump to your setup will reduce running costs, prevent energy waste, and allow you to use your hot tub as much as you like throughout the year, so you can enjoy your time outdoors to the fullest without any concerns around electricity costs or environmental impact.
Does this sound like the right investment for you? Most of our options come with an industry-leading warranty of 7 years on all components, apart from our Aquark heat pumps which come with a 5 year warranty on the compressor and heat exchange and a 2 year warranty on spare parts, so click here to explore our full range or keep reading for more information on installing and using heat pumps.
If you’re wondering whether you can add a heat pump to your existing hot tub or swim spa, then the answer is yes!
The first and most important consideration when choosing and installing a heat pump is whether it is compatible with your hot tub and whether any modifications are needed. Most modern hot tubs and swim spas are compatible with new features, but if you’re not sure whether this is the case for your hot tub then our team will be happy to help.
Next up, you will need to decide on the right type and size. Again, we highly recommend speaking with our team to discuss the different options available in our range and to make sure that you find the right size for your setup. We will also be able to advise you on what kind of electrical connection will be required to run your heat pump and provide the energy that it needs.
Finally, it’s time to retrofit the heat pump to the existing system. Here at All Weather Leisure we offer a professional installation service for all our Inverboost and Aquark options, available for customers within a 30 mile radius of our Cannock or Shrewsbury Showrooms. This service is charged at £495 and will have your new heating system up and running long before the seasons turn to keep your hot tub bubbling away throughout the winter.
