Organisers of a new business networking group aimed at construction, property and finance professionals in Shropshire, have hailed the first event a success.

Attended by 30 people, the inaugural meeting of Networking In The City’s (NITC) monthly Curry Club took place at a Panacea restaurant in Shrewsbury town centre this month.

The Curry Club concept, which celebrated its 33rd birthday last month, was originally established in Manchester as a property and finance networking event. MD Steve Kettle, who took over six years ago, is now rolling out the format nationwide.

Commenting on the Shropshire Curry Club, he said: “Curry Club is new to Shropshire and I think some people attended out of curiosity. However, they all went away enthused, having networked and shared ideas with like-minded people while enjoying quality food.

"As it’s a lunchtime event our aim is to start at midday and finish by 2pm, so everyone can return to work and the important job of running their businesses.”

The next Shropshire Curry Club, sponsored by ESI Ltd, a Shrewsbury based, environmental consultancy, will take place on Wednesday, 13 June at Panacea in Shrewsbury (located next to Montgomery’s Tower). The cost is £20 per person.
