Our Behavior Nurse Jo explains why boundary training is so important.

Hi, I’m sharing a real-life example of boundary training in action with my dog, Luna!

While I was busy cleaning my car, dogs, bikes, and people passed by—distractions galore! But as you’ll see in the picture, Luna didn’t break her boundary. She stayed right where she was meant to, calm and focused. That’s the power of boundary training!

So why is boundary training so important?

✅ It teaches dogs self-control and builds their confidence.

✅ It enhances safety - your dog won’t dash into dangerous situations.

✅ It creates a peaceful home environment by preventing excessive jumping or door-dashing.

How do you train it?

✔ Start small - use a defined space like a mat or a designated area in your home.

✔ Reinforce patience - reward them for staying put, even when distractions arise.

✔ Slowly increase difficulty - introduce real-world challenges like people walking by or exciting noises.

✔ Consistency is key - practice regularly so your dog understands the rules!

Training boundaries isn’t about restricting freedom - it’s about giving dogs the structure they need to thrive.
