Around 150 people attended a celebration event to mark an historic change in management at a law firm in Shropshire.

Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors has appointed a new managing partner as David Battisby, who held the role for the past 13 years, retired at the end of April.

The new man at the helm of the law firm is Brian Evans, and a special event was held at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery on Thursday 28th April to mark the occasion.

Thanking Brian for his service

Brian has been with Lanyon Bowdler since 1992 and was head of agriculture as well as head of the dispute resolution team prior to being appointed as managing partner.

He will continue to be head of agriculture, with Andrew Pegg stepping up to become head of the dispute resolution team.

Brian said: “We felt it was important to formally thank David Battisby for his 35 years of service at Lanyon Bowdler, and in particular his last 13 years of being managing partner.

“Lanyon Bowdler has established itself as a professional firm with specialists across all legal disciplines who are highly skilled yet approachable and down to earth, and I am keen to continue David’s good work to build on that ethos.

“The evening at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery was a chance to meet with clients and contacts from across Shropshire to herald the start of a new era for the firm, and to give David a fitting send off.”

A real privilege

David Battisby is a well-known figure in the Shropshire business community, being a highly-experienced employment lawyer and part time employment judge.

During his time as managing partner at Lanyon Bowdler he led the firm during its expansion into Ludlow, Oswestry and Hereford to its current position as one of the most trusted and well-known law firms in the region and to being recognised in the Lawyer UK top 200 firms.

David said: “It has been a real privilege to have led Lanyon Bowdler and, with the support of my fantastic partners and staff, to have taken the firm to where it is today.

“Over the time I have been managing partner, everyone has worked incredibly hard to make Lanyon Bowdler the highly skilled, approachable and friendly, forward-thinking firm that it is today, and I have no doubt that those values will continue to be core to the business in the years ahead.

“I am delighted that Brian Evans has taken over and I know he will continue to lead the firm to further success.”

Lanyon Bowdler has offices in Shrewsbury, Telford, Oswestry, Ludlow, Hereford and Bromyard and employs more than 230 staff covering all legal specialisms.
