The team behind the sell-out Shrewsbury Folk Festival has unveiled a new series of monthly folk concerts.

Nu-folk duo Megson, Jackie Oates, Roddy Woomble and Faustus are just a few of the names on the bill that will run from September until April next year.

All gigs will take place at The Hive in Belmont, Shrewsbury, except for Martyn Joseph in November that will be at Theatre Severn.

The series kicks off with Vamm, a new collective featuring Scottish fiddle player Patsy Reid (formerly of Breabach), Catriona MacDonald and Marit Falt, on September 16.

Faustus will perform on October 21, Martyn Joseph on November 7, Megson on November 11 and Roddy Woomble on November 25. Kerfuffle will reform for Christmas gig on December 16.

2013 starts with a gig from BBC Folk Award winner Lucy Ward on January 12, followed by the Emily Portman Trio on February 17, Sam Carter on March 17 and ends with Jackie Oates on April 28.

Folk Festival Director and organiser of the Hive series Neil Pearson said: "We are really excited about the line up for this series of concerts.

"Shrewsbury has a great reputation for providing access to quality folk music and we are happy to play an important role in bringing high quality folk artists to the county."

Tickets start from £10 and are available for the concerts through The Hive Box Office on 01743 234970 or in person. All concerts start at 7:45pm.
