Howdens is now the new name for the rebranded A-Plan Insurance Brokers.
I’ve been with them on and off for nearly 20 years and found them professional.
This year for whatever reason getting insurance at reasonable prices have become eye wateringly expensive with many reasons being given for this.
I renewed my car insurance with my current insurer through Howdens only because it was identical to last years cover but the down side came with an increase of over 30% some companies were double !!
I declined the renewal of my Home & Contents cover as Howdens couldn’t get anywhere near what I was quoted for on line at virtually twice the price of what I was offered on line.
I find it unfathomable that Howdens with all their brokerage muscle were unable to offer me or get reasonably close to the online quotation.
Everyone has a price in their minds that they are comfortable with but once this has been exceeded it’s time to really take control of your finances and get the best deal you can rather than automatically renew with a current insurer.
I fear brokers will lose out to well known insurance companies that have an online presence. If Howdens wish to keep customers they need to address the big disparities between the two types of insurance provision & maybe go online to provide insurance that way.

The office is withing walking distance for me. They always print my insurance cover as I request. They try to provide the best car insurance policy for my needs, despite this year been the most expensive I ever had.

Have been with these guys for years and I will be for a long time to come. They always sort out the best deal for you. Great cover for a very good price. They always keep you informed. One thing is they phone you when your insurance is due to run out,you never have to chase them. I have recommended them to other people I know and I would strongly recommend them to everyone.

Bloody brilliant! Someone actually answers the phone and speaks to you. Shouldn't be a novelty but it is... none of this 'we are experiencing unusually high call volumes' or 'your call is important to us' twaddle.
