Over the three and a half years I have owned the M240i, I have steadily added various aesthetic modifications such as front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and rear spoiler. Having completed the latest modification I decided that I should really declare these mods to my insurance company. On contacting them, I came to realise that they were not interested in insuring modified cars and priced the premium to cover them way beyond my budget. Time to find a new insurer who looked more favourably on such mods.
I thought I would investigate the various insurances that advertise in the club magazine “Straight Six”.
Long story short, I contacted Howden Insurance (previously A-Plan) and spoke to Richard Spencer. He could not do enough for me. He knew the model of car, the BMWCC GB and recognised the level of enthusiasm and value we members associate with our cars. He worked his magic and produced an insurance quote for me that covered all my existing modifications, covered the retail value of my car (not market value), reduced my Voluntary Excess to zero, reduced my Compulsory Excess to less than my previous policy, protected my no claims, allowed me to drive any other car not belonging to me third party and final for an annual premium LESS than I was already paying for an unmodified car!
Needless to say, I bit his hand off and I am now insured through HOWDEN.

I was looking for car insurance, l contacted Howden Insurance by phone and was put through to a very helpful young man Sam. After I answered all the relevant questions he told me he would ring me back with a quote, which he did within approximately half an hour. I was very happy with the quote and instructed Sam to go ahead and set it up for me. He made everything so easy for me answering all my questions, nothing was to much trouble for him he was very knowledgable, professional and kind. I have used the company in the past and have always found their customer service to be very good. Anyone I have dealt with in the past have always been very helpful and willing to go the extra mile.
