Our home insurance was pending and premium showed a 73% increase: on enquiry the increase was determined by 2019 claim for flooding damage to garden and garage caused by 3rd party negligence (i.e. non fault damage). In order to sort out the “non fault damage” we had to rely upon our own determination. After numerous phone calls and some considerable time on our own behalf we managed to resolve the problem for ourselves. In fairness to A-plan, sensing our dissatisfaction, the majority of their usual commission was waived but, they only then looked further into finding alternative insurance, of equal cover. I have awarded 4stars because they eventually came through on our behalf. Otherwise, I would have been more critical; as some clients would not be in a position to do what we had to do, and it is unacceptable for a customer to have to do so much of the work themselves when going to the bother of using a broker.
