Many feel that car insurance (amongst other insurances) are not customer orientated. That 'the market' determines premiums and not claims record. Car insurance is mandatory and insurers take advantage of this. There is a presumption that premiums will rise every year; not even in line with inflation but because of market performance. Effectively, not only am I responsible for my own driving but for every other driver as well. It is no sinacure that many of the best buildings in towns and cities are insurance offices.
An absurdity, in my opinion, occurred recently when a letter from my previous insurer (Swinton), with whom I had never made a claim and had been insured through for years, actually advised me that I might get a better premium elsewhere. This is good business?
I want insurance that reflects the risk. That treats me as an individual. For too long we have been judged by some demographic.
I appreciate that A Plan Insurance have a counter service. They are polite and try to be helpful. Nevertheless I still feel it is a lottery what premiums I will end up paying for what (immodestly) I consider to be a low risk.
