I don`t know what I would have done without Lewis and Matthew at the Farnborough branch. My truck was involved in an accident in November last year, and it was a complete nightmare to sort out with a claims company. A Plan made phone calls on my behalf, gave me lots of advice and pushed to sort it out, which it was. Every time I called A plan the phone was answered, you don`t have to wait ages, press options or be put through a call centre. They deserve all the accolades they get. Brilliant service.

My mother's household insurance had been direct with Zurich for over 20 years, but this year they wrote to advise they had pulled out of the "Direct Market" and recommended contacting A-Plan as an alternative.
The number given can go through to any office of A-Plan and mine went through to Gavin Davis in Basingstoke. He was very polite and professional and apologised for some of the questions he had to ask, but he needed to follow a script, for what was obviously "Compliance" purposes.
He confirmed that he would come back to me with a quotation the following day and true to his word, he did. However, I was shocked, not only by the premium quoted, but also that Zurich had categorically refused to quote for my mother's insurance.
The issue was that she lived in Hull and had been flooded in the National 2007 floods and Zurich felt that she posed too high a risk for their appetite.
Having being an insurance professional myself, for over 40 years, I issued a formal complaint to Zurich pointing out that my mother's postcode was in a low-risk area (as is most of Hull) according to the Environment Agency's website, provided details of the subsequent Flood Alleviation Scheme and pointed out that they had, at the very minimum, a moral duty to offer terms, as the incumbent insurer.
In fairness, Zurich resolved the complaint quickly and contacted A-Plan with a quotation, some 35% higher than the expiring terms, but cheaper than A-Plan's alternative.
I had obtained cheaper quotations from the comparison websites, but as Gavin Davis had been in contact throughout and had obviously worked hard to seek the appropriate quotations and as Zurich had all of the facts and information about the flood and the alleviation scheme, I felt that having that personal contact at a broker's was important, particularly when they obviously knew their subject. Consequently,I proceeded with the placement of the insurances.
All documents were processed quickly and efficiently, so I have no complaints.
