Found this by happy accident. It's a lovely old place that appears to cater to weddings and
such. Try to avoid the rooms facing the entry if there is an evening event.

Nice group of folks, very clean, and good breakfast. Gentleman who took care of
us at breakfast (Malcom) was fun, helpful, and a good sport who gave the place personality.

We would return.

This hotel is in beautiful surroundings. The gardens are lovely and the whole place has lots of character. The food was excellent although the dinner menu was quite expensive. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed a very pleasant stay marred only by the inferior polyester bed sheets, this is not good enough in a hotel of this standard. Otherwise a good place to stay for a relaxing break.

We stayed here for a wedding and I have to say we were very impressed with the standard of everything. the rooms were spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were very helpful and polite, they certainly do the place credit. The area around was nice to walk in. It was a very good setting for the wedding. We would certainly like to return here sometime again and would recommend it to any of our friends.

One of my best friends had a wedding here last week. The civic service took place on the lawn, it was amazing as the sun shone all day. It felt like we where part of a movie. We had a fantastic time at the hotel. The staff and service where excellent. We couldn't fault it. Our room was one of the newer ones. It was clean, tidy, all be it a tad warm. The breakfast was second to none, especially after the days celebrations. A great hotel and we'll definitely be back. If you ask and the rooms are free, the staff will show you the older period rooms. Well worth a visit.

I travel a lot, and have stayed in a lot of hotels. I love a hotel with history, character and soul! This hotel has these qualities in abundance, but its biggest asset is undoubtedly its staff!! Great staff make or break a business, and this hotel is very lucky to have a team who are extremely warm, welcoming, chatty and friendly! They all seem to really enjoy working there. The building is stunning, and the outside garden areas are by well kept. Inside, the hotel is very clean, and furnished with lots of rich wood furniture. Our room was in the newish hotel extension. It was a good size, very clean and nicely decorated and furnished. The bed was very comfy, and we had a great sleep on both nights. The breakfast was buffet style, and quality of the offerings was very good. We were made to feel really welcome, and had an excellent stay! Would definitely return and recommend. Many thanks to Malcom and his great team!!

For a wedding venue this is lovely hotel. The food in the day was frozen veg and roast potatoes. The drinks were average in price which was good and plenty of staff on to. All they need to do is clean the rooms to a decent standard to make this a better stay for a wedding.

my wife and I have just moved to Shropshire and on our anniversary went to the Albright Hussey Hotel we stayed in the Cygnet suite overlooking the moat (and swans) and had a wonderful time from the jaccuzzi in the bathroom to the delicious meal and the comfy four poster bed all was as you would expect from a four star establishment ,the cheery helpful staff and the attentive service we could not fault the hotel .we hope to return again when we want a relaxing time

We arrived rather exhausted-but soon realised it is a great location for visiting Shrewsbury
One of most outstanding aspects was the warm welcome and excellent service provided by the manager Malcolm. He was able to be personable and the consummate professional when attending to guests-he is an excellent communicator and provided impeccable service-nothing was too much trouble. The Hussey are very fortunate to have such a brilliant member of staff!

The hotel and grounds are lovely-the breakfast was delicious. Our room was spacious and comfortable and had free wifi in bedrooms

Very minor -but Improved lighting in the bathroom would make a huge difference!
Thanks again Malcolm

This is a great country house hotel set in splendid grounds. If you like wood panelled walls, lovely oil paintings and antiques then this historic 16C hotel is for you. The public rooms are fabulous, the comfortable bar and restaurant are a delight and the food and drink fine and nicely served. Our only complaint was the room (7) which had a disabled bathroom we were not told about when we booked. The wash basin and mirror were obviously very low for wheelchair users but a bit uncomfortable for us. There was no hot water on our arrival mid afternoon for a shower and only one set of towels provided. Strangely the bedroom window had frosted glass. It was ground floor and overlooked a corner of the car park but beyond were cattle grazing in the meadow. Plain glass and a net curtain would have been a better option. Otherwise great.

This hotel is really great. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. What beutifull gardens with black swans in the and ducks swimming. Malcolm who i assume is a Manager is eceptional and cant do enough to make your stay out of this world. I really can't recomend this hotel highly enough. the food and wine is also exceptional.

The food and service was outstanding. Due to a number of events going on over the weekend the hotel was not as quite as we had hoped.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. No complaints apart from being given one small slice of bread to accompany a "cheese and biscuits" course. There were 3 generous slices of cheese. I asked for some extra bread and/or crackers and was given crackers without any fuss.

The Albright-Hussey started as a 16th century manor which has been expanded and modernized in recent years. It has very nice rooms and a fine dining room with excellent service. We stayed there one night and were treated to breakfast in the morning, and had an enjoyable dinner the evening prior. Too bad it was cold and rainy, as the grounds would have made a fine tour. The hotel is located outside of Shrewsbury in farmland so it is a very private location.

Wonderful food, wonderful service, wonderful building... The whole dining experience was (can you guess?) wonderful. We do like eating in town but then comes the hassle of parking, sometimes it can be a bit crowded and raucous for us. The Albright Hussey is such a beautiful place and just a short drive from town really. Long may their successful restaurant continue.

For £120 a night we stayed for two nights for a friends wedding was expensive the room was tatty and a ground floor, The walls are paper thin so if next door go the bathroom you know about it. although the wedding day package put on by the hotel was amazing and a great day i found the room to be tatty dated and looking like it needed a lick of paint and some TLC, The room service breakfast came on the dot but the breakfast was just ok,

Did not sleep well as the hotel is noisy and the beds were uncomftable, would not stay in this hotel again as i feel it is over priced and just average

I stayed at the Albright Hussey on the 23rd - 25th March 2012, second time round...The room was light and airy, decor pleasing to the eye and the bed very comfortable.

The staff were brilliant and friendly, if I could give them an award, I would. The owner Paul, is an hands on chap. I was sat by the lawn having a lovely drink in the sun shine, Paul the owner, was cutting the grass then started to chat now that is what I call taking pride in your business and ensuring every visitor is happy.

I will be back and would recommed this hotel to every one I could

Stayed here 25/2/2012 for 2 nights, thought at first when booking that it was a little expensive, but wow!, it was worth it. We stayed in the top room on the old part, a bit of a climb to the room and wobbly floors /stairs, a bit difficult with luggage, but just look at how old this place is!! What an experience /adventure, we could sense the history of the building. So interesting and quite large rooms. We ate here both nights and the food is really excellent, and service second to none. Just not a great choice for non meat eaters, but realy high quality food. We booked a 3rd night in a very nearby 4*chain Hotel, and regretted this, so much so , that we went back to the Albright for Sunday lunch and what excellent value it was, and they serve to 8.00pm,

We spent New Year 2011/12 with four friends at the Hotel. We couldn't have been made more welcome by the most friendly staff. The building is beautiful and although our room was in the newer block it was clean and spacious with a newly refurbished bathroom. The food was of the highest standard and how they cooked so many fillet steaks on New Years Eve was a miracle of organisation! We all said it was one of our best value New Year trips and we left with a warm feeling - what more could you ask of a hotel?

A family wedding brought me to the Albright Hussey Manor Hotel, located on the edge of Shrewsbury. This hotel combines ancient and modern very well; the hotel restaurant is located in an old half-timbered building of great character. Most rooms are located in a new wing.
Our double room was comfortable, very traditionally furnished, with a small but satisfactory bathroom.
The attractive restaurant served a good breakfast (essentially self-service). Dinner was tasty but the à la carte menu is not cheap and portion size not over-generous.
Staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and efficient.
Although I would probably not stay at this hotel a second time, this is not a reflection on my recent experience.

I have visited this hotel several times to eat and have stayed here a couple of times too, the latest being last week for two nights. I agree with comments other reviewers have made about the 'new' block. The rooms are clean but the decor is a bit 'dated'.

The breakfast was excellent and was served in the restaurant in the old part of the hotel. A good selection of options are available in addtion to the 'full English' which is more than adequate. We had dinner in the private room adjacent to the restaurant and the food and atmosphere were good.

Staff very helpful.

Overall, I feel that the 'old' part of the hotel which has lots of character is let down by the new bit. Nevertheless, I will stay here again. My rating is very good based on the price we paid.

The hotel was I thought a little bit expensive at £120 a night. We were there for a wedding,so the cost was not too much consideration. The room was in the new wing,it was clean with a large double bed. There was a good quality tea tray with homemade biscuits and filter coffee as well as a couple of bottles of water. There were also some sweets in a jar as well.
The bathroom was a good size with lovely huge soft towels. The toiletries were a bit sparse but more were available if needed.
The breakfast was good quality, with plenty of fruit, juices and cereals. The cooked option was good too.The house wine was a little expensive at nearly £18 a bottle. We would go back, but only for a special occasion.

I stayed at the hotel for two nights to attend a wedding.

My room was in the new part of the hotel and it was clean if a little dated. The bathroom could do with a pep up but this was purely cosmetic and it didn't really detract from my stay. There were nice little touches in the room that showed that the hotel was trying to make guests feel welcome.

The main thing that struck me was the consistency and quality of the service. Everyone was more than happy to help and made me feel very welcome. From the reception desk who got me from arrival and into my room in 5 minutes after a long drive to the staff at breakfast who were friendly and helpful on both of my visits.

It was a beautiful location for a wedding and all it all a great weekend.

Congratulations and 10 out of 10 for customer service.

We have just held my Daughters wedding at the Hussey and I can only find good words to say about the Hotel and its staff. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and thier efforts lead us to having a fanatastic time here our wedding party took up all of the rooms in the hotel, we stayed in one of the suites on the top floor of the Hotel which was very nice with four poster bed in lovely big room, and a bathroom with whirlpool bath.
Breakfast was self service on morning after the wedding but some of the ladies in the party stayed the previouss night and they were served with thier breakfast so I guess it depends on the number of guests they have in at any one time. Thanks again to Paul and David ( and all the other staff) for their help in making our daughters day truly special,
