An educational yet entertaining day out in Shropshire. From GPS treasure trails to simulated balloon rides and a life size replica of a woolly mammoth, it can only be the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre! Perfect for the whole family or school trips.
Good quality and choice of food in the cafe but surprisingly not dog friendly which is a real disappointment as they could very easily accommodate given hard floors and multiple entrances to the cafe. No outside shelter so would only visit again on a dry day. Couple of destination EV chargers which is a bonus.

Acton Scott Historic Working Farm is a fantastic day out in rural Shropshire. Jam-packed packed with live demonstrations that reflect the real workings of a Victorian farm, Acton Scott is perfect for kids or the kid in you! It is also available as a film location, and was famously featured in BBC2's ratings success 'Victorian Farm'.
I loved Acton Scott as a child and I love it even more after its relaunch. The volunteers and small staff team have done such a great job of bringing life back to the farm. I visited on May Day 2026 and we had the best time. We were a group of two 5 year olds, a 2 year old, two Grans and myself. The kids were running around from the minute we got there doing a chalk board trail, looking at the animals and farm buildings. What made it so special was the volunteers doing demonstrations for old farm life activities like laundry with a mangle, spinning, butter making and shire horse in the field working. They held the children’s attention brilliantly and they couldn’t get enough. They have also made one of the sheds a play activity shed with a fake cow to milk and old fashioned games. It’s a great wholesome screen free day out.
